The Industry Studies Association (ISA) welcomes scholars from every academic discipline, researchers in government agencies and non-profit organizations, and others who support our mission to advance industry studies scholarship. Membership is grounded in a shared commitment to research that values direct contact with industry for insights, data, and observations, whether through active engagement with practitioners or through work that benefits from such connections.

Membership benefits:
  • Annual and international conferences providing opportunities to present working papers, share research findings, and expand professional networks, with discounted registration for all members.
  • The Federal Industrial Policy & Strategy Update newsletter, a weekly resource covering federal policy, economic initiatives, and developments in industry and innovation, with an expanding archive of past issues.
  • Access to a multidisciplinary community of scholars, policymakers, and industry leaders across academic, government, and private sectors.
  • Dedicated support for early-career scholars through the Professional Development Workshop (PDW) and ISA's awards program.
  • A growing commitment to early-career development initiatives, as ISA continues to expand resources for newly graduated PhDs and emerging scholars.
  • Searchable access to ISA's network of scholars, policymakers, and industry leaders, via a member directory is coming soon.

Annual dues are $195 for Professional Members and $95 for Student Members.
Supporting Membership is optional. An additional $205 is added to the Professional Membership, for a total of $400.

Professional Member

Professional Membership is ISA's standard tier for academics, researchers, and practitioners committed to industry studies scholarship. Members are united by a commitment to research that demands direct engagement with industry and a deep understanding of the markets, firms, and institutions that shape particular industries.

Supporting members sustain ISA's mission and expand its impact. In appreciation, supporters are acknowledged in official conference programs and receive special recognition during conference luncheons and key gatherings. Supporting Membership includes all Professional Membership benefits: discounted registration, weekly policy updates, and access to an expanding archive of past newsletter issues on industry, innovation, and public policy. It also provides opportunities to connect with our multidisciplinary network of scholars, policymakers, and industry leaders, and helps fund ISA's awards program, early-career initiatives, and conference programming. Current doctoral students receive all Professional Membership benefits at a reduced rate. Membership is approved upon confirmation of institutional enrollment.
