Allan Coukell, BSc(Pharmacy), is Senior Vice President for Public Policy with Civica, a not-for-profit organization created by U.S. health systems to address drug shortages by manufacturing quality essential medicines at sustainable prices. He was formerly Senior Director, Health Programs, at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where he created and led multiple initiatives including many focused on drug supply chain, quality and cost. Previously, he was the Director of Policy and Strategic Communications for the Prescription Project at Community Catalyst. He practiced as a clinical pharmacist in oncology at Victoria Hospital in London, Canada, and was a senior medical writer with Adis International. He serves on the board of the Reagan Udall Foundation for the FDA and was a founding board member and vice chair of the Medical Device Innovation Consortium. He graduated from the University of Manitoba and completed his hospital pharmacy residency at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre.
